Senior Capstone Project | Presented at ACDA New England 2023 & Hampshire College Dance Hall
A multidisciplinary dance film exploring movement, music, and visual rhythm. I directed and choreographed the piece while also handling cinematography, lighting, editing, and sound design. The result is a tightly crafted, high-energy performance that merges physical expression with strong visual and audio storytelling.
Rhythm & Beats is a three-part dance film that weaves together movement, storytelling, and cinematic design to explore the personal dance journeys of two performers. Created as my senior capstone project, each section of the piece centers on an individual dancer—Kylee Miller and Samara Wilson—allowing their distinct styles, histories, and emotional landscapes to shape the choreography and overall tone.
Each segment reflects a different chapter of their growth as dancers, told through original movement, expressive camera work, and carefully crafted sound. The film is not just about performance—it's about identity, resilience, and rhythm as a personal language.
The full project was screened at Hampshire College Dance Hall and select segments were featured at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) New England Conference in 2023.
My Roles
Director – Led the vision for the project from concept to completion, shaping the narrative arc and visual direction of each section.
Choreographer – Created individualized choreography for each dancer that reflected their personal stories and movement vocabulary.
Cinematographer – Collaborated with Tyler Solis to capture the performances in ways that emphasized emotion, space, and energy.
Lighting Designer – Worked with Ezekiel Baskin and Anya Krouse to develop lighting that enhanced mood and visual storytelling.
Video & Sound Editor – Co-edited the film with Tyler Solis, combining visuals, music, and ambient sound to bring rhythm and story into alignment.
